The Tiger Illusion
An ancient Chinese tale:
A minister asked the king, “If one person told you there was a tiger in the marketplace, would you believe it?”
The king scoffed, “Of course not.”The minister pressed on, “What if two people said it?”
The king hesitated, “I might start to doubt.”Finally, the minister asked, “And if three people claimed it?”
The king admitted, “Then I would believe it.”The Lesson:
This isn’t just an old tale—it’s how the world works.
Repetition creates belief. It doesn’t matter if something is true—if enough people say it, it feels true. That’s how misinformation spreads, how bad ideas take root, and how entire societies get manipulated.
- A falsehood, repeated enough, becomes reality.
- Popularity ≠ Truth.
- Question everything—especially what “everyone” believes.
Because most of the time, there’s no tiger in the marketplace—just the echo of one.
